Use a Flexible Tape
A soft measuring tape gives the most accurate body measurements.
Wear Light Clothing
Measure over a thin t-shirt or base layer, not bulky outerwear.
Stand Naturally
Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart and relax your muscles.
Ask for Help
A second person ensures the tape stays level and parallel to the floor.
Chest / Bust
With the tape measure parallel to the floor, wrap it around the fullest part of your chest or bust. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Note this measurement.
Waist
Measure the full circumference of your natural waist — this is the narrowest point of your torso, typically at the crease when you bend to one side. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
Hips
With the tape measure parallel to the ground, measure the circumference of the fullest part of your hips — usually around the top of your thighs where they connect to your torso.
Arm / Sleeve Length
Starting at the base of your neck (C7 vertebra), measure along your shoulder and down to your wrist. Keep your elbow slightly bent during measurement.
Inseam
Stand barefoot and hold the tape measure vertically. Measure straight down from your crotch to the floor. This is your inseam length.
Torso Length (Packs)
Locate the C7 vertebra at the base of your neck. Measure straight down your spine to the top of your hip bones (iliac crest). This determines your pack frame size.
Hip Circumference (Packs)
Measure around the fullest part of your hips at the level of the iliac crest — this is where a pack's hip belt will sit. Use this to select the correct hip belt size.
